Advent- the season that comes before Christmas, it is also known as "the season of waiting". The word "advent" comes from the Latin word "adventus" meaning "coming".
Advent Wreath- it symbolizes the advent season.

Advent Wreath Symbols:
Candles- represent Jesus as the "light of the world".
Circular shape- represents the never ending love of God/ God has no end.
Rose/Pink Candle- represents joy
White candle- represents Christ.
Purple Candles- represent the coming of Christ/that Christ is coming.

Solemnity of The Epiphany of Christ- is considered by many Christian sects as the last day of the Christmas season.
Solemnity of The Motherhood of Mary- celebrates Mary's motherhood it is held on January 1.

Percepts of the Chruch:

5. You shall observe the prescribed days of fasting and abstinence.
